Objective :

In order to strengthen and promote the youth activities in the most constructive manner, it is necessary to provide an intermediate tier between the youth clubs at the village level and the Nehru Yuva Kendra at the district level.. 'With the increase in the number of Kendras and thereby in the network of the village level youth clubs, it has become necessary to provide opportunities for full participation of the rural youth in the developmental and recreational activities. The objective of the Scheme of Youth Development Centers is to provide the youth with such opportunities by providing bare minimum' infrastructure.

The Youth Development Centers .would be the main hub of all youth activities in the village covered by them. Normally, initially, till sufficient number of Centers come up, the Centre may cover more than 10 villages.

Considering the fact that the primary objective of YDCs is to work as an intermediate tier between the youth clubs and District NYKs;,the Scheme will be operated entirely through Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan.
